TITLE EVENT: Held annually, the Ocean Drive Marathon (a USATF-NJ 500 point Grand Prix event) is run on a USATF measured and certified qualifying course (NJ06007LMB)..... relevant  for those events requiring a qualifying time.

The 13th Annual Running of the Ocean Drive Marathon is scheduled for 9:00 AM on Sunday, March 27, 2011. Entry fees will remain the same as in 2010 and remain the same until our global economy improves. 

Online registration opens on July 15, 2010 and closes at 5:00 PM on March 26, 2011.

The ODM course will remain open for 5 1/2 hours (until 2:30 PM).

       This course closure directive equates to:
90 minutes to pass the 5 mile mark;
2:15 to complete 10 Miles
3:15 to the 1/2 Marathon mark; and
5:30 to cross the TI drawbridge into Sea Isle City in the 24th Mile.

All participants who cross the TI Bridge in the 24th Mile by 5 1/2 hours will, upon finishing, be included among the ODM timed finshers and be eligible for awards.

This ODM is, indeed, run on a qualifying course due to being measured and certified (NJ06007LMB) by the USATF.

All competitive events are timed exclusively by CLOCK (Gun) TIME by the folks from Runner’s Advocate. Results will be posted online no later than 11:59 PM EDT on Race Day, March 27, 2011.

There is No Race Day Registration for the Marathon or 10-Miler events.


COMPANION EVENTS:

OD 10-Miler, also a  USATF-NJ 500 point Grand Prix event, runs concurrently with the ODMarathon, finishing at the ODM 10-Mile Mark on the Boardwalk in North Wildwood. This course is USATF certified (NJ06008LMB).

OD 5K starts at 10:00 AM and is run on an out-and-back course from (and to) the Marathon Finish Line on the Promenade at JFK Boulevard in Sea Isle City. USATF certification number (NJ99010GAN).

OD 1.5-Mile Fun Run / Promenade is a noncompetitive event which will start at the conclusion of the OD 5K, where kids of all ages are invited to run, jog or walk the Promenade in Sea Isle City just for the fun of it.....

Local electronic and print media cover all events. Refreshments, for all runners, are available.

EXPO: Make plans to pickup your Race Packet and Bib Number at the Wildwoods Convention Center from 10 AM until 5 PM at the "ODRC Health and Fitness Expo" on March 26th 2011. The Expo offers you a pleasant day of wellness and joy with pro-active health related activities and screenings, as well as information on the benefits of diet and exercise. AWARDS: All Marathon finishers receive a Finisher’s Medal and certificate.

Trophies awarded to the top 3 finishers in all competitive events, First Place Finisher in Master’s Division (40 and over), as well as, the top 3 finishers in each 10-year age group as follows:

19 and under
20 - 29
30 - 39
40 - 49
50 - 59
60 and over 

All awards apply to male and female equally.

There is no duplication of award.

COURSE AMENITIES:

  • Large Mile Markers at every mile.
  • Digital Clocks at Mile 1, every 5th Mile, the Half-Marathon mark, and the Finish.
  • Fully Staffed Medical Station and Massage Tent at Marathon Finish Area.
  • Roving medics throughout the ODM course provided (and coordinated) by the Cape Regional Medical Center Emergency Medical Services.
  • Aid Stations are at intervals within 2.5 miles of each other with water throughout. Electrolyte repalcement fluid is available from Mile 11 onward. There is fresh fruit (cut oranges and bananas) from Mile 15.8 onward, and, energy gel at Mile 14.1 & Mile 21.
  • Port-o-pots are located at the Start, every other Aid Station, and, at the Finish.

GETTING to the START:

Take advantage of our Pre-Race shuttle service to the Marathon/10-Miler start in Cape May from:

  • The Marathon Finish Area in Sea Isle City (buses leave at 7:15 AM)
  • The 10-Miler Finish Area at 18th Avenue and the Boardwalk in North Wildwood (buses leave at 7:30 AM)

    Post-Race shuttle service is also available at the conclusion of your run to:
  • The Marathon / 10-Miler Start Area in Cape May
  • The 10-Miler Finish Area in North Wildwood
  • The Marathon Finish Area in Sea Isle City

DRIVING DIRECTIONS:

From the NYC area and other points North: NJ Turnpike South to Garden State Parkway South. Take Exit 17 for Sea Isle City, Exit 4B for Wildwoods Convention Center, and, take the GS Parkway to the end, over the Canal Bridge to go into Cape May City.


From Philadelphia area and other points West: Take NJ Route 42 South, to the Atlantic City Expressway South, to the Garden State Parkway South. Take exits as referenced above.

 
From Southern Delaware and Eastern Shore Maryland: Take Cape May - Lewes Ferry (1 - 800 - 64Ferry), once at the Cape May terminal, take NJ Route 109 to Garden State Parkway, go South over the Canal Bridge into Cape May City, or, North to Exit 4B for the Wildwoods Convention Center and Exit 13, and follow signs, to Sea Isle City.


DIRECTIONS to the Marathon / 10-Miler Start Area in Cape May: Once over Canal Bridge you will be on Lafayette Street, continue on Lafayette Street to Jackson Street (Collier’s Liquor Store) turn left and take to Beach Drive, turn right, go one block to Perry Street. The Start Area is just south of Perry on Beach.


DIRECTIONS to EXPO: Take Garden State Parkway to Exit 4B onto NJ RT 47 South. Follow Rt 47 South over the bridge onto the Wildwoods island. Continue straight ahead to the beach, turn left onto Ocean Avenue, the Wildwoods Convention Center is 2 blocks north on the Boardwalk between Burk and Montgomery in Wildwood.


DIRECTIONS to MARATHON FINISH / 5K & 1.5-Mile Promenade site: From the North, take Garden State Parkway Southbound to Exit 17, turn right at bottom of ramp, continue over bridge onto island, you will be on JFK Boulevard, continue straight to the Finish Area. From South, take Garden State Parkway Northbound, to Exit 13 and follow signs for Sea Isle City, turn left onto Ocean Drive in Avalon, continue and cross the Townsends Inlet Bridge onto Landis Avenue in Sea Isle City, continue to JFK Blvd., turn right to the ODM Finish Area.
